Can you imagine that it’s already January 7th?
But the year is still brand new, and I am sure that some if not most of us are
still looking back at the year that has passed. Thinking of what we could have
done, should have done or not done – how life would be had we just made a
different decision.
Yes, for me, as I’m sure for you, a lot has
happened in the year gone by…some wonderful things, a couple heartbreaking
events and a few joyous occasions and as we mull over the past, it’s easy to
become a little forlorn, wondering what life has in store this year.
I guess it’s natural for us to act this way
but let us not forget what Apostle Paul advised in Philippians 3:13,
“…I do not have that life yet. But I do one
thing. I forget everything that is behind me and look forward to that which is
ahead of me.” (NLV)
Beloved, I know that some things will be
difficult to forget but despite all that we have experienced last year, we need
to rely on God for a better future, God who promises us that His intentions are
for our good; He says,
"I know what I'm doing. I have it all
planned out - plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the
future you hope for" – Jeremiah 29:11 MSG
No matter how hard we try to know the
future, without relying on God it’s a futile effort. I believe that Paul’s
words to the Philippians can be applied to every area of our lives, not just
the spiritual. However, spiritually speaking, I believe that if we are to look
forward to that which is ahead of us, our best bet is to do so trusting God. We must begin again by renewing our
relationship with Him.
We can begin again by resolving to re-establish
our communication with God. For those of us who have been through challenging
times, and things that seem inexplicable, it will be tough, but we need to just
take one step at a time in God’s direction. We need to embark on a journey of
re-discovery.
It is time to begin again, to find God
again, in all His glory. To meet Him again, like it was when you first began, from
the very start, all over again. Will you join me on this journey?
Shall we begin again?
